LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. Peter J. Lucido celebrated National Reading Month on Wednesday by reading to Ms. Akroush’s and Ms. St. Amour’s fourth-grade students and Ms. Lawrence’s and Ms. Nemeth’s third-grade students at Sugarbush Elementary School in New Baltimore.
“I had a great afternoon reading to so many kids at Sugarbush Elementary School,” said Lucido, R-Shelby Township. “I want to thank Sugarbush Elementary Principal Yolanda White and Ms. Akroush, Ms. St. Amour, Ms. Lawrence and Ms. Nemeth for welcoming me into their school and allowing me to read to their students. We had a lot of fun!”
To promote the importance of reading, Lucido has been reading to students at local elementary schools throughout March.
“It is vital that elementary age students learn and develop a love of reading,” said Lucido. “It is the foundation of success in school and beyond. Readers who start early become readers for life.”
