LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. Peter J. Lucido celebrated National Reading Month on Monday by reading to Ms. Korchmar’s fourth-grade class and Ms. Heiderer’s first-grade class at Elmwood Elementary School in St. Clair Shores.
“I had a wonderful time reading to the students at Elmwood Elementary School in St. Clair Shores, which is where I grew up,” said Lucido, R-Shelby Township. “I want to thank the principal of Elmwood Elementary, Michael Fringer, and both Ms. Korchmar and Ms. Heiderer for welcoming me into their school.”
To promote the importance of reading, Lucido has been reading to students at local elementary schools throughout March.
“It is vital that elementary age students learn and develop a love of reading,” said Lucido. “It is the foundation of success in school and beyond. Readers who start early become readers for life.”
